They were followed by Bob and Tammie Chapin in second with a 19.90 pound bag and Wayne Ek and Mike Deloia in third at 18.20 pounds.

Though every team caught a limit, big fish were hard to come by. The team of the year race is led by Bob and Tammie Chapin with 38.64 pounds for the first two events. The Top 10 tournament qualifiers are still wide open with weights that are very close.

Klemm and Trousil Win Their Second Tournament of 2009 - Saturday, August 01, 2009

Matt Klemm and Trevor Trousil won their second Reel Team tournament of the year on another cold, breezy day on Lake Minnewaska. Their bag of 23.04 pounds bested the second place team of Dick and Rick Moen, who came in with 22.31 pounds and the second big bass, a 4.17 pound bass. Tom Wilkins and Doug Tvrdik took third place with a 19.57 pound bag. Vyke Breen and Dave Christopher weighed a 4.66 pound toad to take the big bass award.

The weather has been consistent this year - cold and windy. Temperatures started out in the low 50's  and failed to make 70 during the tournament. Water temperatures were in the 60's - and this on August 1! It's hard to say what is responsible for the tough fishing, but the weather likely contributed to the low bag weights. It doesn't even look like the same lake of the past few years.

The top 10 tournament will be held on Pomme de Terre on Sunday, August 30th.

Klemm and Trousil Take the Alexandria Chain - Saturday, June 27, 2009

Chain1.jpgMatt Klemm and Trevor Trousil weighed the big bag to win the Reel Team event on the Le Homme Dieu chain. Their 19.85 pound bag included the big fish of the day, a 4.47 pound toad. Second place went to Dennis Gajeski and Kevin Tvrdik with an 18.47 pound bag that included a 4.04 pound lunker. Steve Loraus and Dave Mays took third place with a 17.59 pound bag.

As usual, the weather took a turn on tournament day. After a string of calm, sunny, warm days, the weather on tournament day was cloudy with rain during part of the day and strong winds that started from the southeast be switched to the west and remained strong for the rest of the day. Temperatures were in the seventies for most of the day.

This completes the second event of the year. To view the YTD standings, click here

Loraus/Mays Win on Ida - Saturday, May 30, 2009

Ida1.jpgSteve Loraus and Dave Mays weighed a 24.59 pound bag of smallmouth bass to take top honors at the first Reel Team event of 2009. It turned out to be a cool, breezy day with the high temperature topping out in the mid-sixties with winds out of the NW gusting over 30. With the water temperature creeping into the low 60's late in the day, the bass were mostly in a late pre-spawn pattern - although a few found bedding fish.

Rounding out the top three were Cody Rieland and Reid Herd, who took second with a 22.02 pound bag, and third place winners Terry Cosgrove and Josh Stiedl with a 21.71 pound bag.
