Dan Thorstad Wins Big on Minnewaska - Friday, June 05, 2009Weather turned out to be a significant factor with temperatures staying in the 40's throughout the day with strong East winds of over 20 mph. The water temperature dropped seven or eight degrees and it seemed to affect the fish.
Dan Thorstad brought in the only bag over 15 pounds - a 16.75 sack that was good for first place. Dave Christopher brought in 14.87 pounds for second and Durand Peterson came in third with a 13.44 pound bag. Mike Peterson had big bass with a 4.64 pound largemouth.
Thanks to all who came out to fish on such a miserable day. read more ...

Warren Williams Sweeps - Monday, August 25, 2008Warren Williams completed the sweep of the North Country Individual Opens with a 16.09 pound bag on Lake Minnewaska. On a cool, breezy day that proved to be tough for most of our anglers, Warren was able to win this event and take home Angler of the Year honors. Jon Heller took second place with 15.04 pounds and Clarence Rasmussen pulled down third with 13.97 pounds. We had a great turn-out for this tournament with 33 boats.
We had classic cold front conditions and it made fishing very difficult. Most bags were down substantially from what is typical on this lake. Temperatures started out in the mid-50's and rose to the low 70's by the weigh-in and winds were brisk out of the Northwest at 20-25 with higher gusts.
Thanks to everyone who participated. It was a great year and it's hard to believe the season is almost over. Summers go too fast! read more ...

Parking at Minnewaska - Thursday, August 21, 2008It looks like we will have a good turn-out for the Minnewaska tournament, which presents us with a minor problem. Our permit does not allow us to use more than half the parking spots at any access, so it would be helpful if some people could launch from Glenwood. We will be taking off from the Water's Edge at 7:00 AM, so the run across the lake can be made during daylight.
See you at Minnewaska.

Warren Williams Repeats on Ida - Saturday, July 26, 2008Warren Williams soundly defeated the field on Lake Ida to take his second tournament of the year. He came in with a 5 fish bag that weighed 16.76 pounds to take the win. He had two four pound plus fish but they were not enough to take Big Bass honors which went to James Bakken who had a 4.56 pound largemouth. Second place went to Bryan Cain, who came in with a mixed bag of smallmouth and largemouth bass. He brought 14.85 pounds to the scales. Third place went to James Bakken with 13.46 and Micah Radich took fourth with 12.50 pounds.
It was another beautiful day for fishing. Temperatures were in the upper 50's at take off and rose to about 80 by weigh-in time. Skies were clear and winds were 5-15 MPH from the SW.
The next event is on Lake Minnewaska on August 23. We hope to see everyone there. read more ...

Warren Williams Wins at Sauk - Sunday, June 22, 2008On a beautiful early summer day, Warren Williams pulled in 17.64 pounds of bass, including a 5.54 pound toad for the win on the season's first event. He narrowly edged Chris Blank who had 16.96 pounds and Jon England with 16.92. Durand Peterson had the big bass with a 5.89 pound monster which helped him to a fourth place finish.
It was a great day with temperatures in the upper fifties at the start and mid-seventies by weigh-in. Water temperatures were in the high sixties early in the day, warming to low seventies later in the day. Many of the fish had just finished spawning and were difficult to catch, although several anglers had them figured out. There were also some fish still on beds. The next event will be on Lake Ida on 7/26/2008. See you there. read more ...
