McDowell Scores on Smith - Tuesday, July 21, 2009

It turned out to be a cool, but pleasant day for the third event of the North Country Bassin' season. Near record cold temperatures seemed to have made for a tough bite as bags were not up to typical Smith Lake standards. Temperature was in the upper 40's for the start of the tournament but it quickly warmed into the low 70's. Light winds and sun made it comfortable for the anglers.

Tim McDowell weighed the big bag of 13.16 pounds. He and his partner, Tom Wilkins, took the team tournament with 14.57 pounds. Al Braaten and Craig Wollin tied for the big bass - each had a 4.17 pound fish.

This wraps up the third event. The race to the Megabucks is heating up with only two more events to go. The standings could still be shuffled because of the two drops. Click here for the YTD standings.

The next tournament is 8-16-2009.
