The final week of the season was wrapped up on August 29th on Lobster and Oscar. Two teams pulled out wins to jump into the top five of the standings and qualify for the Top Five tournament to be held on September 11th. Larry and Tony Gustafson weighed 11.91 pounds with a 3.28 pound largemouth to take the win and big bass honors on Lobster. Dean and Durand Peterson duplicated their feat by pulling in 17.36 pounds and a 4.47 pound fish to take the Oscar tournament and the big fish prize also.

The Top Five tournament is scheduled for September 11th.

On August 28th, Dean Peterson was able to bring in a five fish mixed bag of smallmouth and largemouth bass that weighed 14.16 pounds to take first place. He was followed by Jim Stargel in second with 13.97 pounds and Clarence Rasmussen in third with 13.11 pounds. Jeff Schnitzler brought in the big fish of the day, a 4.16 pound smallmouth.

There were twenty anglers fishing the tournament. The tournament was hosted by the North Country Bassin' club.

After a 45 minute fog delay, the final draw tournament of 2010 got underway. Calm winds and hot and humid conditions combined to make it a challenging day. On the individual side of the tournament, Bob Hefti brought in 12.77 pounds, that included a 4.43 pound fish that was big bass for the day. Jon Englund and Doug Kriese captured the team event with 13.55 pounds. This was the final qualifying tournament for the Megabucks that will be held on September 25th and September 26th on Lakes Oscar and Vermont.

The fourth week's events of the 2010 season were completed on August 15th at Lakes Miltona and Minnewaska. On a brisk, windy day, Tom and Kathy Wilkins pulled in 11.78 pounds to take first place at Miltona. On Lake Minnewaska, Bob Hefti and Al Braaten weighed a 15.85 pound bag to win that tournament.

The final regular season tournaments will be held on August 29th at Lobster and Oscar. These events will set the field that will qualify for the Top Five tournament and chance to fish for a $3,000 first prize. The Team of the Year will also be awarded upon completion of those tournaments.

Tom and Mike Petron took the third tournament on the year that was held on the Le Homme Dieu chain on August 7. Their 18.63 pound bag was enough to hold off Terry Cosgrove and Josh Steidl who took second with 18.36 pounds and Wayne Ek and Mike Deloia in third with 18.35 pounds. Big bass went to Tom Wilkins and Doug Tvrdik with a 4.11 pound largemouth.

Reid Herd and Cody Reiland took "Team of the Year" honors with a total weight of 55.09 pounds. The top 10 teams qualified for the Tournament of Champions.

Congratulation to the Gustafsons who won the tournament on Sauk Lake and also to the Englunds who took the tournament on Red Rock. The Tony and Larry Gustafson had 18.69 pounds for their five fish bag that included the big fish of the day, a 5.48 pound toad. Jon and Kelli Englund had 19.70 pounds to take the Red Rock tournament. Bob Hefti and Al Braaten had the big bass on Red Rock which weighed in at 5.06 pounds.

After a short fog delay, North Country Bassin' launched its fourth draw tournament of the 2010 season on Pomme de Terre. It turned out to be a beautiful day and the fish cooperated. Jon Englund won the individual title with 17.95 pounds. Jon and Matt Gilbertson took the team title with 20.60 pounds and Matt had the big bass, a 5.26 pound smallmouth. The last draw tournament will be held on August 21. There are still a few Megabucks slots that are up for grabs.

Lakes Area Bass Circuit held its second weekend of tournaments for 2010. Winning at Lake Reno was the team of Dana Freese and Rob Goodin. They brought in a 13.09 pound bag. Lake Scandi is a beautiful little lake and it showed that it has some good bass fishing. Weather was mainly sunny and warm with light southerly winds - a great day for fishing. The big bag of the day was a 13.75 pound bag caught by Durand Peterson. Dylan Kriese and Bob Hefti won the team event with a bag of 14.86 pounds. Big fish of the day went to Matt Gilbertson with a 4.54 pound largemouth.

The next tournament is on July 25th.

Reid Herd and Cody Reiland won the Reel Team Bass tournament on Lake Ida on July 10, 2010 with a 20.64 pound bag that was helped by the 4.11 pound big fish of the day. They were followed by Bob and Tammie Chapin who took second place with a 19.90 pound bag and Wayne Ek and Mike Deloia in third with 18.20 pounds. Unsettled weather conditions didn't slow Rodney Tvrdik who brought a 14.33 pound, five fish bag to the scales that included the big bass, a 4.85 pound largemouth. Rodney and his partner, Dylan Kriese, took team honors with 15.22 pounds.  read more ...

The Lakes Area Bass Circuit met on May 1 to pick lakes and assign teams for the 2010 season. The Top Five Tournament will be held on one of the following lakes which will be drawn the day of the tournament:

• Vermont
• Aaron
• Moses
• Smith

There are still openings for additional teams and it's not too late to sign up. This is a chance to fish tournaments on lakes that seldom see tournaments.

The North Country Bassin' club will hold a tournament on Lake Minnewaska on August 28, 2010 that is open to all interested anglers. This is an individual event with  a five fish limit.  read more ...

The Parkers Prairie Bass League has openings available for the 2010 season. The group fishes on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 and fishes a 14 week season with an end of the year Tournament of Champions. There is no pre-fishing as the lakes are drawn the day before fishing. If you are interested, call Todd at 320-808-7029 or Joey at 320-766-2016. 

Lakes Area Bass has set tentative dates and laid out plans for the 2010 season. The circuit will be limited to 20 boats. Last year's teams have until February 28, 2010 to sign up before entry is opened to new anglers. read more ...
